Yate Common wildlife calendar

Yate Common Wildlife Calendar.
January: Stonechats can be seen in patches of scrub and tall herbs on the west of the common.
You will hear Water Rail calling around the pond.

February: The cold weather will bring Redwings and Fieldfares to feed on the last of the Hawthorn berries.

The cold weather may bring Snipe and Jack Snipe to wetlands. By the end of the month catkins may be appearing on Hazel and Sallow. In mild weather Frogs and Toads will visit the wetlands.

March: The first of the spring flowers appear- Blackthorn, Lesser Celandine, Coltsfoot and Primrose.

The friends of Yate Common were pleased to welcome the land rover charity convoy. Litter bins and toilets arrived before the first land rovers arrived. Some of the land rovers arriving.
